Great service. As soon as my order was placed, they phoned me to notify me that they received my order and then scheduled a date for delivery. They phoned me 2 times after that to keep me up to date and check if delivery date is still fine with me. The technicians were on time and super friendly. They installed the whole treadmill in my house where I wanted it. They gave me a quick lesson of how it worked. They showed me how to oil the band. They were so quick with the setup. Gift and Eddie, thank you for being professional and friendly. Will definitely recommend this company for anyone looking for exercise equipment. Well done guys.

How did you find Express Fitness Urban?

Cardio FAQs

Which type of cardio equipment is best for weight loss at home?

The most efficient machine is the one you will use consistently. However, treadmills (high calorie burn) and air bikes (total body conditioning, max effort) are generally considered the best calorie burners. Ellipticals offer a low-impact alternative for those concerned about joint stress.

How much space do I need for a home treadmill or elliptical?

A dedicated space of approximately 2.5m x 1.3m is recommended for a standard treadmill or elliptical. Consider ceiling height for users on treadmills or stair climbers, and ensure you have extra room at the back of the machine for safety.

Are modern home cardio machines too noisy for a residential setting?

No. High-quality home cardio machines, particularly magnetic resistance exercise bikes and ellipticals, are designed to be extremely quiet. While treadmills and rowing machines will generate some noise, modern motors and drive systems are built for minimal disturbance, especially compared to commercial-grade units.

What is the difference between a spin bike and an air bike for home use?

Spin bikes (or indoor cycles) use a weighted flywheel and friction or magnetic resistance, focusing on pure cycling movement. Air bikes use a large fan that increases resistance based on how hard you pedal and use moving handles, offering a full-body, high-intensity workout.

Strength FAQs

What is the most effective piece of strength equipment for a small home gym?

For users focused on maximal progression and long-term versatility, a Power Rack (or Half Rack) paired with an adjustable weight bench and Olympic barbell is best. This allows for all major compound free-weight movements (squats, deadlifts, bench press).

However, for beginners, older users, or those with very limited space, a premium multi-gym is often the superior choice. Multi-gyms offer a wide range of exercises in a smaller footprint, use selectorised weights for fast and safe weight changes, and provide superior stability and guided movement paths.

Is it safe to lift heavy weights at home without a spotter?

No, lifting heavy free weights alone is unsafe unless you use a premium, quality power rack. A reliable power rack includes essential safety features like adjustable safety spotter arms or safety straps. These components are critical for home use as they will safely catch the barbell if you fail a lift, allowing you to train with maximal effort and confidence without needing a physical spotter.

Should I choose free weights (dumbbells/barbells) or a multi-gym?

Free weights (dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells) offer superior versatility, train stabilizing muscles, and are more scalable for long-term strength gains. A multi-gym is often better for beginners or those prioritizing convenience and safety, as it uses selectorised weight stacks and pre-set movement paths.

How do I maintain and care for my home gym strength equipment?

Strength equipment requires minimal maintenance. For machines, check that cables are lubricated and free of fraying every six months. For racks and benches, regularly tighten bolts and clean upholstery with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner to prevent wear and prolong lifespan.

Functional FAQs

What is "functional fitness" and which equipment supports it?

Functional fitness trains your muscles to work together for everyday movements. Equipment supporting this includes kettlebells, slam balls, battle ropes, and resistance bands. These tools improve coordination, balance, agility, and core stability, making them highly effective for dynamic home workouts.

How can I safely store functional equipment like kettlebells and weight plates?

Proper storage is key to maximising space and safety. We recommend utilising dedicated storage racks and weight trees. These vertically organise plates, dumbbells, and kettlebells, minimising floor clutter and ensuring the gym area remains safe and accessible.

Which piece of functional equipment offers the best full-body workout?

The Rowing Machine or the Ski Erg are often considered the best for a total-body functional workout. They engage the legs, core, back, and arms in a natural, low-impact motion, providing high caloric expenditure and improving cardiovascular health simultaneously.

Can I use functional equipment to warm up or cool down?

Absolutely. Light kettlebells or resistance bands are perfect for dynamic warm-ups to activate muscle groups and improve mobility before lifting. Foam rollers and exercise balls, also part of the functional category, are ideal for stretching and self-myofascial release during the cool-down phase.
