Express Fitness UrbanCookie Policy
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They help websites function correctly, remember your preferences, and provide website owners with information about how visitors use their site.
Cookies may be:
- Session cookies — temporary, deleted when you close your browser
- Persistent cookies — stored on your device for a set period or until deleted
- First-party cookies — set directly by expressfitness.co.za
- Third-party cookies — set by external services we use (e.g. Google, Microsoft, Meta)
In addition to cookies, we and our partners may use web beacons (also called tracking pixels or clear gifs), local storage, and session storage to collect similar information about how you use our website. These are described further below.

Analytics & Customisation Cookies
Advertising & Marketing Cookies
This list is updated as our tools and integrations change. Our cookie consent manager rescans our site periodically to keep this table current.
Web Beacons & Pixel Trackers
In addition to cookies, we use web beacons (also known as tracking pixels or clear gifs) — tiny graphics files containing a unique identifier that enable us and our partners to detect when someone has visited our website or opened a marketing email.
We currently use pixel trackers from Microsoft Clarity (c.gif) and Google (669792111). These are used to support session analytics and advertising measurement respectively. In most cases these technologies rely on cookies to function, so declining cookies will also impair their operation.
We also use local storage and session storage for certain tracking functions (notably Meta/Facebook referral tracking and Google Ads conversion data). These operate similarly to cookies but are stored directly in your browser rather than as cookie files.
Session Recording — Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity does not capture passwords, payment information, or other sensitive inputs. Session recordings are anonymised and used solely to help us understand how visitors use our website and identify areas for improvement.
Clarity data is processed by Microsoft and subject to Microsoft's Privacy Policy. Data may be stored on servers outside South Africa. By accepting analytics cookies, you consent to this session recording activity. You may opt out at any time via our Cookie Settings.
Targeted Advertising
We use advertising cookies from Google Ads, DoubleClick, Facebook/Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Bing to serve relevant advertisements about our gym equipment on other websites and platforms you may visit. These tools use information about your visits to our website (and in some cases other websites) to show you advertisements that may be of interest.
This process does not enable us or our advertising partners to identify your name or contact details unless you have directly provided them to us.
You can opt out of interest-based advertising via:

- Microsoft (Clarity, Bing Ads) — privacy.microsoft.com

Your Consent & Choices
Under POPIA and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), we are required to obtain your informed, voluntary consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.
When you first visit expressfitness.co.za, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to:
- Accept all cookies
- Reject all non-essential cookies
- Customise your preferences by category (functional, analytics, session recording, advertising)
You may change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in our website footer. Withdrawing consent will not affect any processing carried out before withdrawal, but will prevent further non-essential cookies from being set.
Managing Cookies in Your Browser
You can also control and delete cookies directly through your browser settings. Guidance for common browsers:
Please note: blocking all cookies may affect certain features of our website, including the quote request form, live chat, and Google reviews display. It will also impair the functionality of web beacons and local storage trackers that rely on cookies.
Cookies & POPIA
Where cookies and tracking technologies collect or process personal information (such as IP addresses, device identifiers, or browsing behaviour), this is governed by the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). In line with POPIA we:
- Only collect personal information through cookies for a specific, lawful purpose
- Collect no more information than is necessary for that purpose
- Maintain appropriate security measures around cookie-collected data
- Ensure third-party processors handle your data responsibly under applicable data protection law
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information collected via cookies. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on your POPIA rights.
This Cookie Policy will be updated as our tools change or as legal requirements evolve. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
